Real estate asset management

Asset management is key to the successful running of a property portfolio. We recognise its value to clients when done well and have genuine expertise that will add value.

With over 100 real estate lawyers across seven offices we have many years’ experience of working with property and asset managers on property portfolios. We understand the importance of acting rapidly on instructions and ensuring that our advice and approach fit the transaction in hand. Our deep sector knowledge means we rarely come across an issue that we haven’t seen before, can handle matters quickly, efficiently and cost effectively. Personal chemistry is important, as is delivering outstanding client service, so we make sure you have a legal team that fits with your own team.

Our experience

Our lawyers are specialists in leasing, management, planning and environmental, litigation, construction and property tax. This means you get the expertise and capacity to handle all aspects of your portfolio.

We work together with property managers on day-to-day issues such as short-term lettings, lease renewals, approvals of tenant applications, service charge advice and dealing with disputes.

Our deep sector experience and wide range of skills enables us to work closely with asset managers to benefit their short and long-term value generating strategies. These can range from high value leasing to refurbishment, redevelopment and expansion projects. This requires a multi-disciplinary approach as clients will often need planning, construction and tax advice in addition to guidance on how to structure and manage projects. In all these areas we have leading experts to work with you to add real value.

We work across the whole property marketplace including offices, shopping centres, retail parks and industrial estates. Additionally we are experienced in niche retail and leisure opportunities, mixed used developments, student accommodation and healthcare portfolios.

Our clients’ portfolios cover a wide range of locations, asset classes and reasons for holding them including:

  • Multi-billion pound institutional and national pension funds
  • International investors
  • Cambridge College retail properties
  • Local authority investment companies
  • Regionally based, family owned businesses
  • London private estates
  • Healthcare providers, both public and private
  • Student accommodation
  • Residential led mixed-use developments
  • University portfolios
