What can I do for you

Sue is an experienced family lawyer and an accredited family mediator. She is committed to helping her clients to resolve the financial and practical implications of separation and divorce, as painlessly as possible.

Sue specialises in assisting cohabiting couples, as well as clients who are going through divorce or dissolution of a civil partnership.

Sue also regularly advises clients on wealth protection, including both cohabitation and nuptial agreements. Sue works with both national and international clients, including business owners and professionals.

"Sue Brookes and team are exceptional and very much valued." (Client)

"I can't fault the service to date. The output has been strong and guidance well thought out." (Client)

Sue is also recommended as a key lawyer in the team and an "unmarried families and cohabitation expert" in Legal 500 2025.

Supporting your ambitions

Sue helps clients to resolve matters with a clear and practical approach.  She approaches every case sensitively and she can work in whatever way will be best for the individual client and their family. This may require expert legal advice or clients may benefit from mediation. As a solicitor, Sue can offer a collaborative approach or be more robust and litigate when needed.

The more complex the case, the more creative the solution needs to be. Sue has years of experience in high value and complex cases, involving property disputes, pensions, businesses, trusts or child arrangements. She can draw upon her experience to help clients to find the best solution in every case.

What else should you know?

Sue is on a personal crusade to debunk the widely held belief in the "common law marriage" because of how vulnerable the myth often leaves people in practice.
