Joyeux anniversaire!
Mills & Reeve and FIDAL have celebrated the ten-year anniversary of their affiliation agreement.
We originally signed an affiliation agreement with FIDAL, the largest law firm in France, in 2014 to formalise a working relationship after collaborating for a number of years to provide clients with advice that serves their interests in the UK and France.
The partnership has enhanced our and FIDAL's international reach, providing opportunities to expand networks in key jurisdictions. Since the relationship began, we've worked together on transactions in excess of €250 million.
Over the last decade we've worked together to battle international obstacles that clients have faced. As Brexit unfolded, lawyers highlighted the key issues and implications for those who were affected most and provided support. And during the Covid pandemic the firms gave guidance to employers and staff who were working overseas in France and the UK.
Charles Staveley, senior partner at Mills & Reeve, commented: “It’s a really collaborative relationship. FIDAL give our clients all the attention and expertise they need, and we know that they're in good hands. Similarly, clients referred to us by FIDAL trust that we understand their requirements.”
François de Laâge de Meux, partner and Président du Directoire at FIDAL, added: “It's very important for us to have a trusted English partner with whom we've been able to build a strong relationship with. We've been doing business with Mills & Reeve for over ten years now, and they’ve enabled us to provide a great service to our French clients interested in the English market and, conversely, have helped our English clients with their investments or their establishment in France.”
To celebrate the ten-year anniversary, a joint dinner was held at Trinity House, London. The event was attended by Mills & Reeve partners, including head of international Tom Pickthorn, managing partner Claire Clarke, senior partner Charles Staveley, and deputy head of European desk, Alex Kenworthy. From FIDAL, in attendance was managing director Jean-Godfrey Desmazières, head of international Christine Blaise-Engel, and Président du Directoire François de Laâge de Meux.
