Navigating separation: insights from our YouGov survey

Whilst the proportion of people aged 16 or older in England and Wales who are married or in a civil partnership has fallen below 50% for the first time according to the latest estimates from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), those who are currently married paint a very rosy picture of married life.

Our recent  YouGov commissioned research, found that 88% of people who are married or in a civil partnership haven’t thought about or discussed getting divorced with their partner in the last two years.

However, when asked about their thoughts on a broad range of topical issues as well as their attitudes and mindsets towards divorce and separation processes there were lots of differing views between gender and age groups as well as promising attitudes around the concept of amicable separation.
