Our Parents and Carers Together (PACT) network was set up to build a supportive community for parents, carers, and their allies at the firm.

Launched in late 2021 it provides a space for colleagues to share experiences of common interest, and support each other as working parents or carers. The network organises engaging events on topical issues such as supporting children to transition to primary and secondary schools, as well as those to raise awareness of related inclusion issues. They also work to raise the profile of role models from across the firm with lived experiences.

Anyone is welcome to join PACT, and allies are very welcome to help to drive issues forward and support their colleagues.

Our aims

The main priorities of the PACT network include:

  • Providing the opportunity for parents, carers and allies to share work related issues and comment on related areas of concern in a safe environment
  • Representing network members at relevant consultation events (eg people strategy working groups)
  • Helping raise awareness of best practice in relation to parent and carer inclusion across the firm

Our achievements

Particular achievements for the network so far include:

  • Contributing to key policies including the carer's policy and pregnancy and baby loss policy
  • Supporting on the firm's first submission to the Working Families Best Practice Index
  • Launching support groups for parents and carers at key points in the year
  • Organising information sessions around sleep for adults and children, and how to manage children's transitions to the next stage of school

“Being a parent and carer, it’s critical to work at a place where it’s understood. At Mills & Reeve, it’s not just understood, there’s a real willingness for people to hep you.”

Kelly Hockley

PACT member

“A large proportion of our people are parents or carers, and it’s important to provide a forum for them to be able to share experiences in a safe environment. This is why PACT was established. It serves as a vital sounding board, and enables us to share insights and give practical advice.”
